Jamie Sherley is about a quarter into his first year as West Campus principal for the Southwest Valley Community School District, and he says the move has been a good one
Sherley oversees Southwest Valley Middle School and Sylvia Enarson Elementary, both in Villisca. He told KCSI the year has been busy, with a lot of learning on his part, and that a veteran staff with few personnel changes made the transition easier.
The job is broader than the behavior work he did as an assistant principal. Sherley said his hands are now in day-to-day operations, student behavior, 504 plans, and the rest of the administrative load. A 504 plan, he explained for listeners, is another way to support a student — related to, but different from, an Individualized Education Program.
