RED OAK — An 18-year-old Red Oak man was arrested following a single-vehicle rollover accident early Saturday morning south of Red Oak.
The Montgomery County Communications Center received a 911 call at approximately 3:26 a.m. Saturday, July 18, reporting an accident in the 1700 block of 270th Street. Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Red Oak Police Department arrived and found a 2012 Ford Explorer overturned on its top in the eastbound lane.
The driver and only occupant was identified as 18-year-old Ace Edgar Wilkins of Red Oak.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Wilkins was traveling eastbound on 270th Street when he lost control of the vehicle. The Explorer entered the south ditch, where Wilkins reportedly overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn. The vehicle came to rest on its top in the eastbound lane.
Wilkins was not injured. The Ford Explorer was considered a total loss.
Following an investigation, deputies arrested Wilkins on a charge of operating while intoxicated, first offense. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and was being held on $1,000 bond at the time the information was released.
Wilkins was also cited for failure to maintain control and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Red Oak Police Department, Red Oak Fire and Rescue and the Montgomery County Communications Center.
All charges are allegations, and Wilkins is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
