Montgomery County Family YMCA to hold first Skate Night
The Montgomery County Family YMCA will turn its gym into a roller rink for its first Skate Night on Friday, August 7.
Skating will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The gym lights will be lowered, music will be played and concessions will be available for purchase from the YMCA’s multipurpose room.
The YMCA will have roller skates and skating walkers available to borrow. Participants who own roller skates or rollerblades are encouraged to bring them. Anyone with usable skates that are no longer needed or have been outgrown may also bring them for another participant to use.
Admission is $5 per skater or $20 per family. The admission price is the same for YMCA members and nonmembers, and payment may be made at the door. Advance registration is not required.
Concessions are expected to include drinks, sports drinks, candy and chips.
Georgana Derr, membership director and customer service manager for the Montgomery County Family YMCA, said the event is intended to recreate the fun and memories of traditional roller-rink skating while giving families and young people another local activity before the beginning of the school year.
