Healthy Tails’ Dr. Margaret Brady: Keeping pets lean can reduce osteoarthritis risk and improve quality of life

Dr. Margaret Brady from Healthy Tails Retreat says one of the best ways to protect your dog’s joints long-term is to keep them a little lean—especially in breeds that commonly develop osteoarthritis as they age.
She also reminded pet owners that treats and “extras” add up fast, and calories can vary a lot between dog food brands. If your dog is overweight, looks stiff getting up, or you want to prevent future joint pain, Healthy Tails can help.
Call Healthy Tails Retreat at 712-246-2310 to schedule an appointment. Mention you heard this discussion on the radio, and bring a list of everything your dog eats (food, treats, and snacks). They can evaluate body condition, talk calories, check mobility, and help you build a practical plan with weigh-ins over time
