On the 3-26-26 Clarinda CSD Update, KCSI spoke with Clarinda Community High School senior Aidan Johnson who is making the most of his final year, balancing a packed schedule of academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities while preparing for the next chapter.
Johnson has been heavily involved throughout high school, participating in football, basketball, and tennis, along with organizations such as FFA, National Honor Society, student council, FCA, and the school’s newly formed activities council. Despite the demanding schedule, Johnson says the experience has been worthwhile and encourages younger students to get involved.
“Being involved in your school not only benefits you, but also benefits your peers and everyone around you,” Johnson said. “You gain leadership skills, public speaking experience, and grow as a person.”
Johnson also serves as president of the activities council, a new initiative at Clarinda High School that brings together students from grades 7–12 to provide input on school activities and help improve opportunities for all students. The group meets twice a month and helps organize events such as pep rallies, track meets, and golf tournaments.
Outside of school, Johnson works at J. Bruner’s and enjoys spending time with friends and following Iowa State athletics, especially during March Madness.
After graduation, Johnson plans to attend Iowa State University, where he will major in history education and serve as a student equipment manager for the Cyclones football team. His long-term goal is to become a high school teacher and coach.
Looking ahead, Johnson and fellow students are preparing for several upcoming events, including the Cardinal Relays, home golf tournaments, and the Iowa FFA State Convention in April
