Griswold Community School District’s first official student count of the year is in, and both numbers are higher than last year.

Superintendent Dave Henrichs told KCSI the Oct. 1 certified enrollment is 427. That is up 12 students from a year ago. Certified enrollment is the number of students who live in the district, no matter where they go to school. It is kindergarten through 12th grade. Preschool is not in the number.

The other count is BEDS, the Basic Educational Data Survey. That is the number of students the district actually serves, no matter where they live. Griswold’s BEDS number is 396. That is also up 12 from last year.
