RED OAK, Iowa — The Red Oak Police Department reports the arrest of 24-year-old Sam Thomas Sapphire Morgan, also known as Gary Eugene Clear III, on a charge of attempted murder of a police officer.
According to the Red Oak Police Department arrest report, Morgan was arrested Monday, June 22, at approximately 3:30 p.m. The arrest took place in the 900 block of Highland Avenue in Red Oak.
Authorities say the arrest stems from an incident on June 26 in which officers were reportedly shot at. The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation had a warrant issued for Morgan’s arrest.
Morgan was transported to the Montgomery County Jail, where he is being held on no bond.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
